December has begun! The Christmas season is in full swing. Most people are putting up their tree, buying presents, and finalizing travel plans.

In the midst of the holiday hustle and bustle, we forget Christmas isn’t about us. We forget that it is about remembering Jesus by caring for those less fortunate. As He Himself said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).

There are many opportunities to give during Christmas. Here are a few of my favorites:

Care Packs & Outreach Kits

Through Voice of the Martyrs, you can sponsor a Christmas Care Pack ($30). These packs are given to children who are persecuted for their faith. They contain toiletries, school supplies, and a toy, as well as a children’s Bible.

You can also sponsor a Village Outreach Kit ($150). These kits contain materials and tools to help pastors with evangelism and discipleship.

Goats, Chickens, & More

You can help the poor with a gift from World Vision’s catalog. These gifts are designed to lift the poor out of poverty. You can provide a family with animals, medicine, clothing, clean water, etc.

You can also pledge to support a child year-round. This is the most personal and effective way to fight poverty.

Eager to Remember

Paul recounts his first meeting with the other apostles. He says, “All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do all along” (Galatians 2:10).

Let us be eager to remember the poor as we celebrate Christmas!
